National Night Out: Madison High School October 4, 2011 details
	On Tuesday, October 4th, Broadway Bank volunteers participated in Madison High School’s National Night Out. The event featured visits from local law enforcement and governmental officials, as well as McGruff the Crime Dog and Mr. B. Local businesses were given the opportunity to set up vendor booths to promote their products and services, which were visited by over 500 attendees. The event was sponsored in part by Broadway’s Nacogdoches Banking Center.

CPS Visitation Room Adoption September 24, 2011 details
	On Saturday, September 24, the Human Resources Team adopted one of the visitation rooms at Child Protective Services. Volunteers spent two weekends painting and decorating the room. The visitation rooms are where the families can spend time together on set appointments after the child has been removed from their home. The Child Protective Services Division investigates reports of abuse and neglect of children. It also provides services to children and families in their own homes, places children in foster care, and provides services to help youth in foster care make the transition to adulthood and places children in adoptive homes.

United Way Days of Caring – A Day of Goodwill details
	On Saturday, October 8th, Broadway Bank volunteers along with their family volunteered their time at Goodwill for the United Way Days of Caring-A Day of Goodwill event. Volunteers received and sorted donated items, stocked shelves and organized clothing racks. Goodwill Industries of San Antonio provides a variety of employment services for people with disabilities and barriers to the world of work. At its Job Help Centers, which are open to the public, people can seek to change their lives through the power of work. Many of the services are free. The centers are located inside most Goodwill stores and serve as community resources to help people find and keep jobs. Some of the services provided include: Employment bulletin board featuring career opportunities with Goodwill Industries and throughout the local community, assistance with resume templates, on-line job searching with web-based employment resources and materials; GED tutorials and much more.

25th Annual Gruene Music and Wine Festival October 6, 2011 details
	On Thursday, October 6th, Broadway Bank volunteers along with their family volunteered their time at the 25th Annual Gruene Music and Wine Festival. Volunteers helped serve wine tastings to raise money for United Way of Comal County. The Gruene Music & Wine Fest began in 1987 with the purpose of promoting Texas and Americana music in a fun and relaxed setting while raising funds for the United Way of Comal County. Over the years, it has become a four day celebration not only of Texas and Americana music, but also a celebration of Texas, German and New World wines, specialty beer and handcrafted items.

St. Vincent de Paul September 27, 2011 details
	On Tuesday, September 27, the BNB Care Corps volunteered for the St. Vincent de Paul dinner service at Haven for Hope. Volunteers helped to serve approximately 450 meals during their shift. St. Vincent de Paul serves more than 1,500 meals daily to the homeless of San Antonio - soon to increase to 2,500 meals per day! The Bistro will serve approximately 650,000 meals in 2011.

11th Annual San Antonio Buddy Walk September 24, 2011 details
	On Saturday, September 24th, Broadway Bank volunteers along with their family volunteered their time at the 11th Annual San Antonio Buddy Walk. Volunteers assisted with registration, children’s activities and money counting. Each dollar raised helps The Down Syndrome Association of San Antonio provide important services that enhance the quality of life for individuals with Down Syndrome and their families. San Antonio Guatemala Endeavor (S.A.G.E.) September 17, 2011 details
	On Saturday, September 17, the Broadway Bank Care Corps volunteered at the San Antonio Guatemala Endeavor (S.A.G.E.) annual Esperanza Gala. Volunteers helped with registration, assisted with the silent auction tables and helped to close out the auction at the end of the evening. S.A.G.E. takes a medical team, support group, and a stove team into the mountains of Guatemala, they have done this every year since 1992. This is a fun event for a wonderful group of people and the funds raised at the gala help to purchase medicine, materials to build stoves, and whatever they need every year.

Tour for Children September 10, 2011 details
	On Saturday, September 10, the Broadway Bank Care Corps volunteered at the Tour for Children benefiting Transplants for Children. Volunteers spent the day helping out with the different game stations. We all enjoyed the morning outdoors and having fun with the children. The mission of Transplants for Children is to assist young organ and tissue transplant recipients and their families in effectively coping with the emotional, financial and social challenges, which arise before, during and after transplantation.

Seton Home Donation Drive August 2011 details
	During the month of August 2011, Wealth Management held a donation drive to collect clothing and household items to benefit Seton Home. Wealth Management was able to donate a van full of goods. Items donated ranged from clothes to towels and diapers to home décor. They were also able to present Seton Home with a check for $135 dollars. Seton Home is a residential facility that provides housing and supportive services for homeless, abused, pregnant and/or parenting teens and their children. Although they are not an emergency shelter, they do provide services to teens that are homeless and without resources.

Annual School Supply Drive details
	Once again the Broadway Bank Care Corps has had another successful school supply drive. With help from so many giving individuals, departments, and Banking Centers we were able to distribute 53 backpacks each including a $15.00 Gift Card to Payless Shoe Store and four boxes with miscellaneous supplies to the Broadway Bank Mentors and Will Rogers Elementary School.

Annual National Down Syndrome Association Convention August 6, 2011 details
	On Saturday August 6th, the Broadway Bank Care Corps volunteered at the Annual National Down Syndrome Associations convention held this year, in San Antonio, at the JW Marriott Hill Country Resort’s convention center. Families from all over the US, Mexico and several other countries were in attendance. Volunteers started very early, arriving at 6:30am to assist attendees with registration and handing out materials needed for the workshops. The volunteers also assisted with handing out and collecting evaluations at the different workshops. The purpose of the NDSC is to promote the interests of people with Down syndrome and their families through advocacy, public awareness, and information dissemination on all aspects of Down syndrome. The NDSC is financially supported primarily through membership dues and individual contributions.

St. Vincent de Paul July 26, 2011 details
	On Tuesday, July 26, the Broadway Bank Care Corps volunteered for the St. Vincent de Paul dinner service at Haven for Hope. Volunteers helped serve approximately 300 meals during their shift. The time was well spent and everyone had a great time. St. Vincent de Paul serves more than 700 meals daily to the homeless of San Antonio and will be increasing the number to 1,200 meals per day in the near future.

2011 Funlympics July 23, 2011 details
	On Saturday, July 23, the Broadway Bank Care Corps volunteered at the 2011 Funlympics sponsored by the San Antonio CPA Society held at St. PJ’s Children’s Home. Volunteers spent the morning helping out with the different game stations and leading their groups around to all the different activities. We all enjoyed the morning outdoors and having fun with the children. Within the community, the San Antonio CPA Society is dedicated to supporting service projects & programs. Annually, members organize and sponsor Funlympics, providing a day of fun, prizes and picnic lunch plus school supplies for more than 250 of San Antonio’s at-risk children.

Trampoline & Tumbling Junior Olympic Championships July 10, 2011 details
	On Sunday, July 10, the Broadway Bank Care Corps participated in the Trampoline & Tumbling Junior Olympic Championships Activities. Volunteers spent the morning spotting the children on the trampolines as they trained for the evening event. We watched them as they bounced high into the air and did all sorts of twists, turns, and flips. Our job was to bump them onto the trampoline if they were going to fall off as they landed. Thankfully we did not have any fall our way. San Antonio, Texas was named as the site for the 2011 T&T Visa Championships and J.O. National Championships for the first time ever. Junior athletes and their coaches traveled from all parts of the USA to compete here.

Head Start Beautification Project July 9, 2011 details
	On Saturday, July 9, the Broadway Bank Care Corps participated in the Family Service Association’s Pilgrim Head Start Beautification Project. Volunteers spent the morning painting the newly installed walls and giving other areas a new coat of paint for the retuning children when school starts. We also cleaned up our mess before we left. Some of us got a little dirty but the time was well spent and everyone had a great time. Head Start is a program that provides early childhood education and development services to qualifying children. It also provides the parents with resources to family strengthening, encourages parent participation, helps families set goals, and provides access to community services.

St. Vincent de Paul June 28, 2011 details
	On Tuesday, June 28, the Broadway Bank Care Corps participated in the St. Vincent de Paul dinner service at Haven for Hope. Volunteers helped to serve approximately 350 people in 27 minutes. The time was well spent and everyone had a great time.

Ready When the Time Comes June 25, 2011 details
	On Saturday, June 25th the Broadway Bank Ready When the Time Comes Emergency Response Team (BB RWTC ERT) attended a Mass Care Shelter Training at the American Red Cross San Antonio Area Chapter Headquarters. Volunteers were trained on registration, food service, dormitory duties and procedures for mass care shelter operation. Volunteers learned about all the different aspects of running a mass care shelter during a natural disaster crisis. When catastrophic disasters strike in Texas, the San Antonio Area Chapter plays a major part in response. San Antonio is a shelter hub for evacuees. When evacuations occur for hurricanes along the Gulf coast or other large scale disasters we receive thousands of displaced residents. Meeting this challenge takes hundreds of volunteers. RWTC volunteers are available immediately to begin outreach and response.

Crossmen Marching Music eXtravaganza June 17, 2011 details
	On Friday, June 17 Broadway Bank Care Corps assisted with concessions, t-shirts and gates at the Blossom Athletic Center for the Crossmen Marching Music eXtravaganza. The Crossmen is a non-profit musical organization that assists young people to become outstanding individuals through the arts. With 150 performers ranging in age from 15 – 21, the Crossmen includes brass musicians, percussionists and a color guard. They perform an extravaganza of musical excellence, marching precision, color, drama, dance, humor, and emotion. The Crossmen will travel over 15,000 miles this summer entertaining hundreds of thousands of fans throughout the nation.

KLRN Blazing Gavels Auction June 15, 2011 details
	On Wednesday, June 15 Broadway Bank Care Corps, family and friends participated in KLRN’s Blazing Gavels auction. Volunteers were split into two shifts and responsibilities included answering phones to take bids, time stamping the bids, updating bid boards, and even modeling on air.

2011 Walk to Cure Lupus June 4, 2011 details
	On Saturday, June 4, the Broadway Bank Care Corps participated in the Alliance for Lupus Research’s 2011 Walk to Cure Lupus at Brackenridge Park. Volunteers helped greet walkers, register walkers, collect funds, pass out t-shirts, serve breakfast tacos and brownies, hand out water and iced tea, and establish the walking trail. There were over 150 walkers in this year’s walk, raising over $10,000 for on-going Lupus research.

The American Diabetes Association’s Tour de Cure June 4, 2011 details
	On Saturday, June 4, Broadway Bank Care Corps, family and friends assisted with The American Diabetes Association’s Tour de Cure cycling event. Volunteers helped with set up, registration, t-shirts, and picked up trash. We also had some of our very own guys from IT participate in the event as cyclists. Tom Llewellyn, Bill Meek and Sonny Montiel each cycled 150 miles over the two-day event to support the American Diabetes Association. The American Diabetes Association’s Tour de Cure showcase was a two-day ride from San Antonio to Austin with an overnight in San Marcos.
